As a perfectionist let me tell you that perfection is not attainable. I don't care how good you are, you will never ever make something perfect. Nobody will, not even the best. There will always be something you could have done better.
Part of what helped me get over the need to make things perfect is following Sean McCabe's 90% rule. He says it takes as much work to get from 90% to 100% as going from nothing to 90%. I think that's a great way of looking at things. It seems a little lazy to a perfectionist to think about just doing "good enough", but if you truly put in the work and reach your 90% it's not lazy.
The fact is, eventually you have to ship. Wether it's client work, or something you're doing on you own time you can't work on something forever. Part of the reason I've been doing icon a day is because it forces me to ship something.
Don't worry about being perfect. Just worry about your 90%.
