After almost 5 years my girlfriend has become a driving force in my life and as I've been building my business. She's been 100% behind me through the good and the bad. She's always been there to give me a little encouragement when I'm feeling down. It's safe to say Designsbyhall.me would not exist without her, or any of the other wonderful people like my mother and my friends in the industry.
Taking a risk and trying to make a living on your own is scary. Having a great support network, both inside and outside your industry, is immensely valuable. It takes an incredible amount of willpower and determination to put yourself out there, and it's not something I would suggest mustering up on your own. A good support network is there to keep you grounded. They push you to go further than you thought you could go, but they hold you back from going too crazy.
They provide external pressure to push yourself. People tend to be more lenient with themselves when holding themselves accountable. That's why it's great to have a gym buddy, or to go on a diet with your significant other. If you don't fulfill your commitments you at least feel like you're letting other people down, even if they're not directly holding you accountable. Just knowing that someone important to you believes in you is enough motivation.
It's also important to be thankful towards your support network. It seems like an obvious thing, but people like knowing that they're appreciated. That being said, I want to give a shout out and the warmest of thanks to everybody who has supported and guided me over this past year. Even though I still have a ways to go to reach my goals, thanks to these wonderful people I have come farther than I ever thought possible.
Hopefully that wasn't too sappy.
